Friday 55-Monsters

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.
With a nod to Raven and Quilly
( This week's Raven's words were really, really, horrible -29 words)
Every week a nice lady named Raven gives us fifteen words and phrases to use in a story. Here we try to use those words and phrases in a flash 55.This week's words are:
family, cheese cake, 20 years ago, refrigerator, laugh and the world laughs with you, bath brush, zombies, African violets, butterflies, holding hands, monsters in the closet, roughly, bowling, menu, Pennsylvania

Family Monsters

Twenty years ago in my family in Pennsylvania the monsters in the closet were not refrigerator zombies holding hands filled with African Violets , butterflies, cheese cake, or bath brushes. But bowling cousins that said laugh and the world laughs with you while treating you very roughly and tearing up your personal menu for the day.

#################################

And Now for something completely different. And we mean completely different.
First there is poetry- written well by a few experts. You know it when you see it.

Then there is poetic drivel- written by many. Lots of fun and often punny.

Then below them all is quivel.
The following is quivel.
It in no way even pretends to be poetry or drivel.
Instead it is something that looks like a poem, uses at least three of Quilly’s words.
In this case it is also a flash 55 quivel since it has eleven lines with exactly five words to a line. Please, again, note this is a quivel it does not pretend to be a poem or even poetic drivel.

Heads will Roll

The bacchante with weird hair
Didn’t really seem to care
That the glabrous man had none
she wanted just more fun
His tenebrous mood she ignored
Till he raised that sword
Ebullient he took her head
She of course is dead
Hitonious is the terrible game
Where heads roll the same
Rated R for not tame.

  4. I've come to you first this week, couldn't help it. How you manage to see a story in those word lists I don't know, but I love that 55! And the wonderfully dry 'She of course is dead' wins a prize in the quivel!

  17. Mmmm/ Refrigerator zombies? Must be cold-hearted.

By the way, parts of the original "Night of he Living Dead" were filmed not 5 mies from where I live and a few of my neighbors played zombies in it.
