Flash Fiction

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.
With a nod to Raven and Quilly
( This week's Raven's words were not so bad at 20 words)
space cadet, silver lining, wood, turtle soup, minaret, ice, grease, sales, mandala, mug, broken bones, slide rule, garbage, Chinese, sanguine

Discovery in Space

The space cadet using a slide rule and old Chinese ice charts found the turtle soup planet of wood with the silver lining but covered with garbage and broken bones. His company Mandala Minaret Inc. saw feauture sales of sanguine grease mugs with pictures of the planet on them once the planet was cleaned up.

And Now for something completely different. And we mean completely different.
First there is poetry- written well by a few experts. You know it when you see it.

Then there is poetic drivel- written by many. Lots of fun and often punny.

Then below them all is quivel.
The following is quivel.
It in no way even pretends to be poetry or drivel.
Instead it is something that looks like a poem, uses at least three of Quilly’s words.
In this case it is also a flash 55 quivel since it has eleven lines with exactly five words to a line. Please, again, note this is a quivel it does not pretend to be a poem or even poetic drivel.

Incompossible as ice and heat
Are gossips and the discreet
Harl all gossips far away
Before they have their say
Thropple them one and all
Before your troubles they recall
Your pigritude shared with many
Of garbage you have plenty
Your opprobrious conduct made known
Will cause many a groan
At them throw a stone.

  1. Great poem. Many gossiping people...though not enough stones, LOL.
    I'm up too

    Happy Friday!

  2. Ooooh, "Incompossible"!! What a fun word!
Like a cross between Impossible and Incompatible.
    Love it.

You always have such fun with words. :)

My own Friday 55 is posted HERE.

  3. Fandango -- I think it would be okay if you just ate gossips. Likely thought it would give you a sour stomach.

However, occasionally I have been known to share a thought or story only to have Amoeba call me for gossiping, so don't eat anybody who doesn't make a habit of gossip, just in case it was a thoughtless slip.

  4. i love incompossible! they cleaned up the planet to sell grease guns...sounds like something an earthling would do. lol. nice 55s.

no gossip here, so hold the stones.

    my 55 is up!

  5. i love the first one it sounds like what we could do to sell mugs of our own planet mine is up too, please don't eat my teddy bear, i know they are irresistible

  6. I've caused a few groans in my day so I'll refrain from tossing anything.
    Excellent 55 Hot Breath.
I Dub Thee...Prince of Prose For Pigeon Falls!
    Have a Wonderful Week-End...G

  7. It's all about having Vision, isn't it? Just clean it up, and imagine what it can become (and how much profit we can get!).

    I'm up, too!

  8. You dragons are so darn clever!
    Here's my 55:

  9. Oh Fandango...I want one of those coffee mugs :) Very well done and so darn clever :)

  10. A suitable demise for gossips, me thinks.

  13. You always do such fun things with the words Fandango!

  14. How do you manage to get all the words in, squeezed into just 55, and still make it good? Loved the quivel: too true about such people!
