Changing Times

With a nod to Raven and Quilly
( This week's Raven's words were really less than wonderful -33 words)

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.
Every week a nice lady named Raven gives us fifteen words and phrases to use in a story. Here we try to use those words and phrases in a flash 55.This week's words are: superlative, flea market, falling leaves, disinformation, who was that masked man?, keeping kids out of trouble, I'm a believer, bonnet in the attic, staff, generation, deep in the forest, government, charming, heirlooms, flabbergasted

Changing Times
I'm a believer and have been since the charming bonnet in the attic was found at the Falling Leaves Heirlooms Flea Market deep in the forest but I'm flabbergasted at the superlative government disinformation on keeping kids out of trouble handed out by staff of a generation who never heard " Who was that masked man".

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

And Now for something completely different.
First there is poetry- written well by a few experts.
Then there is poetic drivel- written by many
Then below them all is quivel.
This is a flash 55 quivel.
Something that looks like a poem, uses at least three of Quilly’s words and has five words to a line for eleven lines. Click on the special words for definitions. Please, again, note this is a quivel it does not pretend to be a poem or even poetic drivel.

The Con Man

The tortiloquy of the man
Selling all that he can
Let us to surely see
Montivagant gypsy he must be
No vultuous visage could hide
How to us he lied.
Specious arguments he did spin
Always he could only win
Intransigent until we caught him
Even then acting so prim
His future now is dim.

  3. Another great 55. Authority seems to have forgotten that kids learn through a bit of trouble. And now they can't cause a bit of trouble, they cause a lot of trouble.
    Madness ... I think :-)

  5. Fandango, you do Flash 55 so well you make it look easy. I am -- as ever -- impressed.

Oh, but don't eat the Con Man. I'm pretty sure he's rotten to the core and will upset even your dragon tummies.

  13. Times have been changing too fast. There are so many things I try to explain to or share with my kids that they simply don't get and much of what they say makes no sense to me, even when I've been right there watching them encounter stuff.
