Raven's Challenge 93

It is Saturday and time to play with words supplied by Raven's Wordzzle
Words for this week's 10-word challenge are: spaghetti, woe is me, mythology, avarice, windy, pathetic, paper towels, water, all my children, books
And for the mini: best deals of the week, Nobel Peace Prize, sleep deprived, cauliflower, practice

A Mega Challenge
Woe is Me

Spaghetti doesn’t grow on trees
All my children’s books have fleas
No Nobel Peace Prize for me I think
Sleep deprived I sink and sink
Best deals of the week are gone
Half price cauliflower ends at dawn
Windy gusts caused water spills
Pathetic loss of morning pills
Monsters from Greek mythology
Practice screaming just for me
Avarice and personal greed
Paper towels start to bleed
Woe is me!
I hallucinate

The Ten Word Challenge
The Story of Woe Is Me

Once a week, after a great spaghetti and worm banquet served on paper towels, Grandma Shingles gathers all my children around her and tells the little dragons stories from our great mythology. She never uses books but always recites from memory. This is one of her favorite stories.
Long ago and far away there lived a very small pathetic looking dragon known only as Woe Is Me . He lived on the bottom of a windy hill right next to a large body of water. He was a kind and gentle dragon who did not have an ounce of avarice in his entire body.
Woe Is Me lived in a nice little dragon house and that was his problem and cause of his woe. Twice a year the wind from the mountain would tear the roof off of his house and blow it away. Then poor Woe Is Me would have to shape shift to his human form and put on a new roof. It was a real pain. He hated doing it. He hated his human shape. He hated life.
One day when Woe Is Me was hungry he chased a bear into a cave. The bear was delicious but as he finished eating something a massive dragon thought came to him. “ Wind can’t blow the roof off of caves”. With some decorations, with a few friendly items, a cave would be a wonderful place to live.
And that’s how dragons came to live in caves and Woe Is Me became Great Cave Trueheart for whom all dragons give thanks.

And Now for something completely different. And we mean completely different.
First there is poetry- written well by a few experts. You know it when you see it.

Then there is poetic drivel- written by many. Lots of fun and often punny.

Then below them all is quivel.
The following is quivel.
It in no way even pretends to be poetry or drivel.
Instead it is something that looks like a poem, uses at least three of Quilly’s words.
In this case it is also a flash 55 quivel since it has eleven lines with exactly five words to a line. Please, again, note this is a quivel it does not pretend to be a poem or even poetic drivel.
Dog Magic

His lubency always showed up
When they brought the pup
It adimpeated his smile bin
Gave him that pamphagous grin
Murklins gave way to light
Gave the will to fight
The aeipathy pulled him down
In his sad hospital gown
The cute little isangelous pup
Built his fighting strength up
On heavenly vibes to sup.

lubency :(Noun) willingness; pleasure
Adimpleate (Verb). to fill up
Pamphagous-( Adj) all-consuming

Quilly 40

It is a Quilly day. Time to take Quilly’s three words for the day and write a story.

The 3WT #40 words will be: lubency; adimpleate; pamphagous
lubency :(Noun) willingness; pleasure
Adimpleate (Verb). to fill up
Pamphagous-( Adj) Omnivorous.-eating everything; all-consuming

The lubency of the pamphagous creature to adimpleate on onions was a joy to behold.

His lubency to adimpleate on hot dogs did not make him a pamphagous eater.

Lucy the pamphagous Dragon found great lubency in adimpleating on polar bears since global warming was killing them anyway.

He got no lubency from watching the pamphagous polar bear adimpleating on poor little seals.

He had a pamphagous desire to adimpleate the page with Quilly words and doing so gave him great lubency.

Quilly has a pamphagous desire to bring back almost dead words. This gives her a great deal of lubency. You can help poor Quilly to be happy by adimpleating a page with her old words. In addition it can be fun. Give it a try.

Bad Day for A dragon

A Picture Story from Portrait of Words
Bad Day For a Dragon

Gladys, the dragon was upset. It had been a very bad day.
First she almost collided with a jet plane.
She was sure that stupid pilot was out of his flight path. He certainly wasn't supposed to be there.
Then she had shape shifted into a human because she wanted to go to this lovely barbecue. They had some of her favorite food.
But they wouldn't let her in because she didn't have an invitation. She almost shape shifted back . They would have run like sheep and she could have had the entire barbecue for herself. But that was against those stupid protocols. Why dragons ever signed them she didn't know.
After that it was all downhill. Some stupid company built a hideous new headquarters in her favorite landing spot on the far side of Hasansack , New Jersey.
She had been landing there for years. She considered it hers. It was in the most isolated part of the town and not far from the cave she called home.
So she decided to visit some friends in the great Southwest. By the time she got there it was dark and she ran into a roof that had never been there before.
What idiot puts a roof over a structure that has stood on its own for five hundred years ?
She fell so hard that the display cabinet at the gift shop fell over
and all kinds of things broke. The owner almost saw her before she went to her invisible mode. It hurts a bit to be invisible and her head hurt from the crash.
The day could hardly get any worse.
But tomorrow would be better. She was invited to a fancy dinner with Dr. John and he promised it would include Magic Parrot Soup.
He even let her come as a dragon but she did have to scale down her size somewhat.
Given today she was so thankful for the promise of tomorrow.

The Ten Word Challenge
The Great White Dragon

You humans might think it logical that our little dragons wait for Santa Claus just like your children do. But they don’t. So phrases like “ Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus “ have no meaning to us. Instead they wait the coming of the great White Dragon.
The Great White Dragon wears what looks like an outlandish comberbund but is really a container for the sugar scarecrows he gives the children. Our children do love those scarecrows. There is not a dragon family photo album that doesn’t have a picture of a happy little dragon with a sugar scarecrow.
The Great White Dragon also gives what is called “ the unexpected gift”. You never know what this will be. One year he gave roller skates. There is no funnier picture than dragons on roller skates. If cameras had existed then they might have made a movie and sold it for enough to “pay off the mortgage “ ( pay off the mortgage is a dragon idiom taken from you humans and it means to pay all we owe.)
The origin of the Great White Dragon is lost in antiquity but the legend says that he was the only albino dragon to ever live. He was picked on and made fun of as a little dragon. When he grew older he decided he wanted to help children have a better childhood than he did so he went around helping little dragons to have more fun in life.

The Old Album

In the "Logical Circumference" photo album was an unexpected, outlandish picture of a scarecrow in a cummerbund on roller skates in a basement apartment with turtles in one hand and tomatoes in the other saying "make my day".
Next to the photo of Sugar paying the mortgage captioned " Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

Dog Poop

Dog poop fills the yard
Need to be on guard
Yelve to pick it up
Following after the little pup
Aeipathy could be the result
To the body an insult
When the poop is gone
We can walk on lawn
So bring us to patration
With a fully positive assertion
Leading to a massive celebration.

Quilly 39

It is a Quilly day. Time to take Quilly’s three words for the day and write a story.

The 3WT #39 words will be: Yelve, patration, aeipathy

Yelve- 1. (obsolete) A fork used to carry dung; such a fork used as a garden tool.
patration - -(n) perfection or completion of something
Aeipathy- 1. A continued passion; an unyielding disease.

His aeipathy for the collection of yelves lead to its patration.

The aeipathy he developed after being stabbed by a yelve reached the point of patration and he died.

His aeipathy for ancient farming methods lead to the patration of his small book on yelves.

The dragons aeipathy to protect the earth from the patration of the farmer’s plan lead to her stealing all the yelves.

The crossed yelves on his wall were part of his aeipathy for the patration of old farming tools.

You do not need a yelve to work in a word garden. What you need is an aeipathy for words , old and new and a desire to reach a patration using them. Well Quilly will give you the words and help you use them. Give her a try.

Raven's Challenge 91

It is Saturday and time to play with words supplied by Raven's Wordzzle
Words for this week's 10-word challenge are: edge, haven, sunglasses, sprightly, telling, frazzled, juicy, quartet, tied, necklace
And for the mini: bees, crackling, wooden, staple, earful

A Mega Challenge
The Beginning - An Epic Poem

This is the telling of all that we can tell
An earful of history told so well
On the edge of time when all chaos was
Came the sprightly hand of the Great Because
No haven then no wooden trees
No singing birds or buzzing bees
No quartets of juicy pride
Just crackling chaos yet not tied
In quartets of creative bursts
Came so many spectacular firsts
Land the staple once for all
Came at the Creator’s call
Sunglasses needed to observe
Or have frazzled facial nerve
Necklaces of things He made
A great and wonderful parade
And at the top when He was done
Stood the greatest greatest one
Dragon made to govern all
Answered now the Creator’s Call

The Ten Word Challenge
The Great Inventor

It is time for the telling of another dragon history lesson. This week we want to introduce you to our great dragon inventor sprightly Nicholas Haven. He had a quartet of the greatest inventions in dragon history. Of course, we are sure you already know he invented sunglasses and necklaces. The modern worlds could not survive without those two inventions. But for dragons these were minor inventions.
He also made two great cutting edge inventions that changed the dragon world forever.
First of all he invented the dragon equivalent of a GPS system. Prior to that invention dragons just hoped they were going in the right direction. Often they would aim for Hawaii and end up in England totally frazzled and fit to be tied. With his new invention, we think you call it a compass they went in the right direction. Is it any wonder we honor him.
The second great thing he invented was a way to keep dead animals from drying out. Until this invention if you wanted to save a dead animal to eat several days later you knew it would no longer be juicy. It could be eaten but it lost its taste. But Nicholas gave us the powder of juice. You sprinkled it on the animal and even two weeks later it was still juicy.
Dragons revere the memory of Nicholas who would still be with us but he invented something called a pasty. It was potatoes and meat and a very special crust. He loved them after he invented them. One day he ate one hundred and fifty of them and the gas they created in his stomach caused him to explode. There were bits of Nicolas everywhere, an explosive end to an explosive inventor.

We dragons wish to thank Argent for these wonderful words. We really appreciate that you gave us words and not phrases as phrases are much less fun.

Flash 55

Friday 55 Flash Fiction is brought to you by G-man (Mr Knowitall). The idea is you write a story in exactly 55 words. If you want to take part pop over and let G-man know when you've posted your 55.
With a nod to Raven and Quilly
( This week's Raven's words were super wonderful only fifteen words no impossible phrases.
They are: edge, haven, sunglasses, sprightly, telling, frazzled, juicy, quartet, tied, necklace, bees, crackling, wooden, staple, earful

In fact the words were too wonderful . The dragons got into a fight over using them in a story or a poem. Too keep them from burning up the house and each other they decided to post both:

Poor Joseph
Joseph Haven had become frazzled , fit to be tied. He was acting like one with an earful of bees. His old sprightly . crackling self was replaced by a wooden caricature that wore sunglasses and stopped telling stories about enchanted sinister necklaces, angry staples that danced and a juicy quartet of evil spirits at the edge .

Selling on E-Bay

Sunglasses worn by a demon
Bees raised by a freeman
A crackling wooden fireplace load
A necklace with a code
Quartet music on the edge
Sprightly earful by the Ledge
Haven Staple Gun so wide
A juicy roast neatly tied
Frazzled by the telling here
All in the E-Bay sphere
Bid till the end appear.

aquabib - 1. A drinker of water.
ficulnean adj -of fig-tree wood; worthless
brochity n -projecting or crooked quality of teeth

Back to OZ
The aquabib waited for more
His water spilled on floor
Ficulnean water now it was
Made him stop and pause
Brochity of the person new
Startled him with the view
Kexy face stared at him
The body fit and trim
Sober then he really was
Aware of all the flaws
Wished himself back in Oz

Quilly 38

It is a Quilly day. Time to take Quilly’s three words for the day and write a story.

The 3WT #38 words will be: aquabib; ficulnean; brochity

aquabib - 1. A drinker of water.
ficulnean adj -of fig-tree wood; worthless
brochity n -projecting or crooked quality of teeth

After his last drinking bout which caused his ficulnean brochity he became an aquabib.

You seldom see an aquabib with a brochity because they refrain from ficulnean activities.

Dragons must not be aquabibs because too much water causes their flame to become ficulnean and sometimes this creates a hitonious brochity.

Parents should see to it that their children are aquabibs , have any brochity corrected, and refrain from ficulnean behavior.

As I watched the old drunk fall down adding to his brochity as his face hit the pavement I decided to be an aquabib and refrain from ficulnean drinking.

We will admit that Quilly's words can be a bit kexy. But they are clearly not ficulnean words. If for example you find a person with a horrible brochity You can talk about it and he will never know you are talking about him. The words are very good for aquabibs since they pretty much like to know what they are saying.
So the next time you are in a group astound them with your superb vocabulary and remember to thank Quilly.

Picture Story/Song

A Picture Story from Portrait of Words
Our hero Thom did his pictures as a song story.
We want to emulate our hero so we wrote a song story but we are just beginning so we set it to the old dragon song " Twinkle Twinkle".
So here is our story song:

Fly On, Fly On

Fly on Fly on Little Birds

Leave the driving to us nerds

Up above my hat so high

Like a wheel in the sky

Fly on fly on little birds
Leave the driving to us nerds
