It is Saturday and time to play with words supplied by Raven's Wordzzle

This Week's Ten Word Challenge will be: nausea, everything is on sale, expect great things, frying pan, pledge, birds of a feather, stick, Saturday morning, liver and bacon, caterpillars
For the mini challenge:aggravation, protective, bargain basement, take me out to the ballgame, break a leg

Every week we poor dragons do the best we can to take really horrible words and turn them into something like a poem. We know that hyper-critical Quilly won't like it not that she ever trys to turn words like this into a poem.
But we like Quilly so she can just jump over this and we wrote a Mega challenge that is not a poem just for her.

A Mega Challenge-Conned Again
Liver and bacon in the frying pan
Everything is on sale man
Expect great things today
The nausea will go away
Saturday morning while it’s dark
Aggravation at the ball park
Take me out to the ball game
An empty park is not the same
Bargain Basement Baseball
With no real players at all
Birds of a feather conning me
Pledge things that will not be
Stick it to him they say
Break a leg along the way.
Protective custody put them in
Perish the thought that I should win
Caterpillars butterflies become
But me I remain just dumb.

A Mega Challenge-Reality Show
Welcome to the Dragon Network’s Newest Saturday morning Reality Show, “ Break a Leg”
Tonight you will hear the singing group “ Birds of a Feather” sing “ Take me out to the ball game”
Followed by:
The returning group “ Nausea Stick” singing “ Liver and Bacon “
But first a word from our sponsor the “ Everything is on Sale” department stores where every floor is a bargain basement and where we pledge that you can always expect great things. This week’s special is tasty caterpillars at a price so low you we can’t mention it on television .Now! Before we meet our first contestant we want to apologize for the aggravation caused by our running out of last week’s special, dragon sized frying pans with Draflon protective coating………...

Our Ten Word Challenge- The Detective
It was Saturday Morning in central city and Detective Frank Nausea was going over the evidence they had accumulated in the case of the “ liver and bacon bandit”. He was called that because he always ordered a plate of liver and bacon to go .. When the order was ready he would pull out a gun and take all the money in the cash register along with the order. They had a bullet which was fired when the cook using a frying pan like a stick tried to knock the gun out of his hand. The bullet bounced off the frying pan and lodged in a can of Birds of a Feather Soup where the investigating officer found it.
After that the Chief went on television and said “ The community has come to expect great things from this department and I pledge that we will not rest until this man is caught.”
The next night he hit his first department store, Wiggly Woggly which is part of the “ Everything is on Sale “ chain out of Philadelphia. He went to the specialty food department and bought a dozen chocolate covered grasshoppers then at gunpoint took all the money from the register.
Well Detective Nausea thought “we’re looking for a man who likes liver and bacon and eats chocolate covered grasshoppers. There can’t be many people who fit that description. “
He was , of course, right. Aside from himself there were only two others….

  2. Well done dragons. I really liked your poem this week and both your stories. The last line of your second story made me laugh. Well, the whole story made me laugh, I guess. Thanks.

  4. Ye poetic Dragons of old
Each week do be so bold
As to pen with poetic delight
Wordzzle words like birds in flight

    And by doing so
    Make my cares go
The way of scourges of yore
    and make my spirit soar

BTW - Where can I get a frying pan with Draflon coating? LOL

    Rock on Dragons

  6. I liked your poem and the two stories. In the story about the reality show, that dragon sized frying pan sounds like the next big thing. In the detective story, since Detective Nausea also likes liver and bacon and eats chocolate covered grasshoppers, shouldn't he be a suspect, too? That's a good way to cover up a crime, pretend to investigate it. I look forward to the sequel.
